The eyes may have it but more often than not, they have a little help in the form of eyelash extensions.
We’ve heard some hesitation from hair clients about eyelash enhancement, mostly based on lack of understanding of the product and process. As a big believer and user of them myself, I think it’s important to debunk some of those myths. Sonja on Team Poza has been to school to learn eyelash extension application and has done mine for more than a year.
Eyelashes: As with anything, your provider must be skilled and experienced for the best results and Sonja most certainly is. I asked her to respond to five myths to help our clients and blog readers conquer their fears.
MYTH: Eyelash extensions damage your natural eyelashes and, once you get them, you have to keep up with them forever.
SONJA: Not true. When applied correctly, lash extensions complement your natural lashes and do not harm them. In fact, your real lashes still grow with the extensions that fall off after a period of time. There is no obligation or reason to continue with enhancements if you decide it’s not right for you.
MYTH: Lash extensions are made out of real eyelashes.
SONJA: No, they are synthetic and hypoallergenic.
MYTH: Once applied, lash extensions are like false eyelashes and last until removed.
SONJA: Wrong again. As explained above, extensions fall off over time, just like real eyelashes. Lash extensions require maintenance to achieve the same fresh look you have when first applied. All are different but they generally last 3-4 weeks. Keep in mind if you want them removed sooner for any reason, that requires assistance with professional remover. Attempting it by yourself could damage your natural lashes.
MYTH: It hurts to get lash extensions.
SONJA: Other than the time investment of about one to one and a half hours, there is no pain associated with lash extension application. It’s time consuming because synthetic lashes are attached individually to your own lashes using an adhesive but the result is so worth it!
MYTH: Lash extensions are one size fits all.
SONJA: Everyone has a look they want to achieve from simply fuller and longer than your natural lashes to dramatically different. We have individual solutions so no, one size or in this case length, does not fit all.
If you have been considering eyelash extension, now is the time to book your appointment. Or, consider giving it as a gift to a friend or relative you know wants it but needs a little nudge.
